The first? Rebuilt SD40-2 released from CAD in Montreal in the new beaver scheme makes it's maiden voyage on the eastbound Expressway out of Milton tonight. It's pleasing to see SD40-2's get a new lease on life. According to reports, this is supposed to be a SD40-3 but it's labelled, right now, on the side of the unit as a "SD30C-ECO DRF-30aa". I'll let the loconotes guys debate what any of this means :) I'm more curious to what power plant is inside this... a 710 or a 645..

  1. Another really fresh unit :-) .
    Nice catch and scene Steve.

  2. Sweet catch Steve! One of these days I’ll have to hike up there :)

  3. Gotta give it to CP on this one. That looks really sharp. The beaver makes their power look so much more photogenic, especially when it’s clean. If the majority of their power looked that good, I’d definitely shoot CP more. Problem is CP still doesn’t really clean their units.

  4. Very nice! I thought the SD40-2′s were going to the bin.

  5. Nothing like a quick stop on the 407 eh Steve ;) ? Nice!

  6. Oooo……..shiny! I’ll take that one please!

  7. According to one source, 5106 is the ex 5969.

  8. I made my last trip on the Expressway in June of 2010 on unit 5969, so this is quite interesting to see. I can assure you, it was pretty crusty before the rebuild.
