The fine folks at Waterloo Central Railway hosted a steam photo freight on June 30, 2016 and powered by Essex Terminal Railway No. 9.  ETR #9 is a 1400 h.p. steam powered 0-6-0 hand fired, coal burning locomotive built in 1923 by the Montreal Locomotive Works. Railfans rode and photographed the special steam freight consist at the Station & Restoration Shop in St. Jacobs before crossing the Conestoga River and heading deep into Mennonite farming country to the Waterloo Spur terminus in Elmira and return. Photo run-by location is in the midst of lush crops mid way between St. Jacobs and Elmira.
