The end was almost here for the St. Thomas & Eastern RR as RS18 1842 rolled past the old signal post that once protected the diamond between CN's Cayuga sub and the Canada Southern. The abandoned CASO roadbed is to the left and the gate here appears to have been relocated from Talbotville yard after it was abandoned. The diamond itself is still intact today even though sections of the CASO sub have been reclaimed by adjacent farm fields. Today the Cayuga sub. East of St. Thomas for the most part is inactive all the way to Delhi, with occasional service from the OSR between Tillsonburg and Courtland. Hopefully the line can survive but things don't look good, and time maybe running out.

  1. So there’s no rail service to the Ethanol plant in Aylmer?

  2. Not that I’m aware of.
