Caption: The daily move along the Fonthill Spur brings Trillium 110 carrying a couple of tankers back from the plant which they just serviced. Chemtrade Chemicals is the only service along the Fonthill Spur these days, and it's a rather quiet line, not seeing very much action anymore. Back in the 80's, this line went all the way to Welland, and had a few trains a day. In the 90's, this line was shortened to just about a miles length, ending in Thorold. In 1999, the Pine Street Lead off of this line, was abandon. It was quite famous for featuring a stretch of roadrunning. Maybe the line will return to normal size if Trillium gets their passenger service idea approved? Only time will tell.

I’ve dreamed of St. Catharines building a series of rapid transit lines, kind of like the O-Train in Ottawa, and Trillium could run locals up them, return, and fill Merritton Yard up with around 60 cars. Needless to say, I have some crazy dreams, and Trillium’s idea of running passenger trains is along the crazy level. It’s a good idea if people would give it a chance, but in an area like Niagara, I doubt people would flock to this train that’ll probably cost the same as car, and will likely be slower, and especially, won’t have reasonable transit connections.
When Trillium first made the idea public, it did get quite a bit of publicity and people were all for it, and were quite happy with the idea. Whether or not they keep those views in the future is what’s key though. I believe the only thing Trillium needed was money from the government for new engines (As they only have 2 serviceable and they really only use 1). The NS&T was quite popular back in the day, and the only reason it’s no longer existent is because of the rival of St Catharines transit. I’d like to see it work…I really would. But time will tell.
I would love to see it happen as well. Perhaps I’m not trusting the pubic enough, but from what I’ve seen in the past is when it comes to transit, the public will ask for it just to have it, but will stay in their car, unless they don’t have one.

Geez I wish I could tell you, since the day changes so much. I believe they service the plant early Tuesday afternoon nowadays.
