A very interesting perspective of this historic site. Very nice, Sir!
Those elevators lasted to the early 80′s. It’s hard to believe there was so much industry down there.
Great shot!
Taken from where?
That is CP Rail train #11 (tomorrow’s) power in lower left corner, the F unit likely off (today’s) #12….and very likely that F will become ‘The Push’ at Leaside later (today).
And stored inside the CPR John Street roundhouse for various private owners at times throughout the 1970′s: CPR#136, CPR#1057, CPR#1201 (was rebuilt at the roundhouse), H 1 c CPR#2839 (yes, a Royal Hudson, purchased by Ontario Government for the Ontario Science Centre), CNR#5107 (purchased by Ontario Government for the Ontario Science Centre), and CPR Mikado #5361, plus other steamers…and first gen diesels….
More than likely this was from the Royal York hotel. When I got there I asked for a room with a good view of the railroads.
