The chances of seeing one of Amtrak's B32-8 locomotives pulling these days is extremely slim. They have all been reduced to yard service in selected major cities. But then, there were only 20 of them to being with, slotted 500-519 in the roster. Even though in this morning shot I would have been shooting straight into the sun had it been out, I probably would have passed on driving all the way up to Stratford from Niagara if I had known the weather would have deteriorated to the extent it did. Dull, drizzly and foggy. But, its all history now.

  1. Saw 514 earlier this year lead the Maple Leaf. I stood atop the Merritt St Bridge with a flu getting hit by ice pellets to shoot the thing

  2. Really? I find that VERY interesting. I hadn’t seen one since shooting this !!

  3. It was during the last snow storm of the year. I know it’s made its way to Niagara Falls NY quite a few times, but when I heard it made its way over the border, I didn’t care what the weather was like

  4. Arnold…. you really think I like going out in THIS weather??

LOL. I had to get this. It did not come back.

  5. We Montrealers were particularly lucky, with 514 being on AMTK 68/69 over half a dozen times this past winter:

  6. Very interesting to know those dash-8s still get out on the mainline…..even if it was the same one. Thanks, guys.
