Caption: The 501 Queen route during rush hour can be a busy line (streetcar ridership on the Queen corridor is apparently higher than that on the Sheppard subway or Scarborough RT), thus its use of articulated ALRV streetcars over the conventional CLRV cars. TTC 4215 has just stopped at Bay Street as patrons step off the sidewalk to board, fumbling with their wallets and purses for tokens or exact change.
The UTDC-built ALRV fleet was supposed to be the first to go once the new Bombardier streetcars arrived, but due to Bombardier's ongoing supply chain issues and failure to be able to keep to any delivery timeline, the aging ALRV's have been granted a small reprieve, with a number of cars being overhauled to keep them going a little longer (and the bill will likely be going to Bombardier as contract failure penalties).
