TH&B's self-propelled American Hoist and Derrick X-755 is seen equipped with a clamshell bucket at Kinnear Yard while working to clear snow from the track for maintenance. It appears some minor derailment cleanup is underway with wood cribbing scattered around and rails rolled to the side.

  1. What a great shot of the TH&B crane at work! TH&B X-755 later became CP 414226 It is an American 830 DE (8-wheels, 30 ton capacity, Diesel Electric) locomotive crane. It wore serial number J-3066, and was delivered new to the TH&B Railway in January 1952.
When built, it was equipped with a GM 6-71 Detroit Diesel producing 145 hp at 1600 rpm. It came with a 50 foot boom and 15 foot removable center section. Other equipment on the crane when built was a radius indicator, 20″ double sheave hook block, tagline winder, track clamps, cab heater, lights, and a windshield wiper.

  2. Very cool crane, nice shot Bruce !

  3. Thanks for the comments.
