Caption: Steam-Diesel Doubleheader: Caught in a fall downpour, Canadian Pacific G3g 2424 doubleheads an eastbound freight with RS18 8738 and another sister unit heading eastbound past the station platforms at Leaside. 2414 was likely working assist duties, helping the diesel-powered freight climb the Belleville Sub grade from Leaside up to Agincourt.
8738 was only two years old at this time (built by MLW in 1957), but 2414, built by CLC in 1943, was running out her final years in service with the rest of CP's remaining steam power. Retired sometime in 1960 at the end of the steam era, she would be scrapped at Angus Shops in April 1961.
In the background is a building for Sheridan Equipment Co. Limited (located adjacent to James N. Scott), with the rear of a construction scraper visible. The trackside doors hint at an adjacent rail siding. Both buildings are still present at Leaside today.

Might well be a doubleheader. Note lack of signals being displayed, therefore must be second class train. Likely 902. This was a Saturday. Twenty Four Hundreds were not supplied as push engines.
