Caption: Stayner, Ontario. Former CN station. The Ontario, Simcoe & Huron Railway came thru here back in 1860 on its way to the Georgian Bay terminus at Collingwood. Stayner became a popular and busy stop along the way on this line from Barrie; as agriculture and lumbering were very big here.
The last scheduled train stopped in town on July 2, 1960; and powered by GO 9861 of all engines. After that, the station closed and remained so until the Stayner Co-Op purchased it and the land and used the building for storage, as you see here.
In 1985 the building was sold to the Cranberry Golf Club of nearby Collingwood. The structure was loaded up and moved by truck to the Club, where it remains today as a completely renovated pro-shop, kitchen and dining area.
It retains its 'station' appearance, but inside, well, just another building.

I made an error in the caption and apologize.
The last regular passenger train was in 1960 behind CN 1321. The last UNscheduled passenger train to stop at Stayner station was behind GO 9861 in 1974.
I believe the GO unit was leading a fantrip up to Meaford when the rear axle siezed and the wheel was ground down to a huge flat spot. The 9861 was left on the line in Craigleith where my brother and I climbed all over it(but couldnt get in-Locked)..I assume repair crews were dispatched quickly as it was gone shortly after.
