Something a little different today. We have 4-axle locomotives preparing to take a loaded sulphur train out of Edmonton. The sulphur train has a caboose on the west end. This is, in all likelihood, a train that loaded out on the western end of the Sangudo Sub (Kaybob, Benbow or Windfall). The Sangudo Sub leads face east as they enter the Edson Sub mainline, just beyond the Inland Cement plant in the background. Therefore, the loaded train arrived with the power on the east end as it entered town at Union Junction. It then backed onto Bissell yard.
The new power, seen here, will remove the caboose and place it on the west end of the aggregate train on the adjacent track. Then it will return to the sulphur cars, couple up, test, and leave for North Vancouver.

  1. And with those 3 units, even on the relatively flat profile westbound, will be a pain for the dispatcher.
