Caption: Some light fall yellows and reds are starting to appear along the Humber River, but the only orange here is on the trailing intermodal cars on CPKC #2-118 as it heads southbound through downtown Woodbridge on the MacTier Subdivision. The head-end of the train is passing the nearly 100-year old Woodbridge Memorial Tower, a wartime memorial erected by the then-village of Woodbridge on Wallace Avenue (once the main thoroughfare into town) in 1924 after the First World War. At the top was a beacon that would be lit at night, visible from the town and surrounding area. Three cannons are on display at the site, which were transported to Woodbridge from Toronto via Canadian Pacific flatcar and unloaded at the hill (apparently they were spotted and unloaded one-by-one on the mainline alongside the memorial site here, via a ramp and winch).

Downtown Woodbridge, once your typical small town downtown strip, has mostly been modernized starting in the 1980's with the Market Lane shopping area and housing developments that saw the demise of many older stores, shops and houses. Today, a few older historic buildings remain along Woodbridge Avenue (originally Pine Street), mixed in with more modern condos and townhome developments. Many older homes still populate the surrounding neighbourhoods. The old Woodbridge Fairgrounds can be seen in the distance.
