Some days, when waiting out a train and the sun is going down, you know it is coming so you just wait it out. This is a case of a nice warm summer night..and I am hanging around at the South Siding Switch, Montrose, because I KNOW this train is out there somewhere. And close. Alas, the sun went down and I was left with this effort. Pity I did not record the lead unit; only that I thought this was CP train #521.........but it could have been 523, or........

The Minolta Tower, plain to see in this image, is now surrounded by high-rise hotels as Niagara Falls continued to boom with the tourist trade. I believe the structure is now referred to as the Tower Hotel. Tracks thru Niagara Falls tourist area were removed around 2001.

  1. It was November 2001. I was there with my (now) wife sightseeing in mid november, saw trains, thought “oh heck i’ll come back soon” – had no idea they were planning to rip it out.

  2. great stuff, arnold.
