So close and yet so far. TTC streetcar 4458 sits in the siding at Whitby with two CP idler flats, still more than 20 miles from Toronto. My best guess is that the consist developed a fault and was set out. Amazingly, it sat here for almost three weeks.

  1. A friend of mine shot this around the time of your photo and sent it to me. I found it really strange for it to even be sitting there. I can’t really see it developing a fault though, but anything is possible, but knowing the TTC, they probably wanted that back as soon as possible. Why it was set out is a mystery to both you and me.

  2. I agree, it’s odd. A few weeks before this, there was a fully-loaded 5-unit well car in the same spot, so it seems that CP is perhaps using this as a RIP track?
