So Arnold's recent pic from Feb 2006 had me looking back to see where I was that day - Probably nursing a Hangover - I wasn't anywhere near Paris at that time of year. Here's my closest outing to Arnold's day. But do you kids REALLY want to know that THIS was mundane? From SMM who posted his report of what happened on this day to the FPON Yahoo Group ( subscribe to read, it's insane what went on back then!), and this list only notes the 'good' trains:

CN393 CN2557-UP9308 11:38
CN394 BNSF7819-BNSF984 11:50
CN148 CN5776-NS/CR4812-GCFX6077 12:34
CN411 CN5729-BNSF7856 14:25
CN278 BNSF868 14:56
CN390 BNSF7846-BNSF8060-CN2590 16:14

I also managed to shoot CP 230 with STLH 5615 leading, 5687 trailing at 0800 and a CP Eastbound on the way home with 8700 and CEFX 139 (sd90mac in maroon) at Guelph Jct.

If anyone can note the train number of this westbound , please comment if you can. Thanks!

  1. Cool, a shot of the 5352 (looking very fresh) out getting the days work done, Nice! :-)

  2. And an SD40 wide cab trailing with matching paint schemes, and both units looking clean. Nice! Yeah, 2006 was a good time for trains.

  3. I marked this one as #435 Steve. Shot it at Copetown. I logged 10 freights on CN that day. Your list appears to match mine.

  4. Thanks. There seemed to be more people out and about back then too….

  5. This scene looked so familiar I figured I’d crack open one of the old slide boxes, It would appear I was standing right next to you for this one Steve ! For what it’s worth 435 is the train ID on the slide mount.

  6. Haha great!! Thanks guys. What a great day :)

  7. Matt do you have an os sheet from this day? I have a partial one on fpon but its only half the trains.

  8. 2006 was a great year for trains! I also had time because I was a young-in university student :)
