Caption: Skirting the shore of Burns Lake
VIA 005 The Skeena is on its way from Prince George, BC to Prince Rupert, BC on the second day of its northwest trek. Just a mile or so from entering the town of Burns Lake, the locomotive and two-car consist (VIA 8102 coach, and VIA 8707 Kokanee Park) glide smoothly along the shore of the namesake lake.
Once again I have the entire Park car to myself for hours at a time on this wonderful journey. :-)
Another photo graciously edited by my friend Extra 5610 West.

Beautiful Paul, simply beautiful ! Happy New Year, John
Thanks John. Happy New Year to you, and all the best in 2024! I’ll be out riding the rails again in 2024 in the hopes of snagging some more shots to share.
Yeah, stunning landscape, Mr. O’Shell. This must be a really relaxing journey in spots.
Good morning Arnold. The Trip from Jasper to Prince Rupert and return on The Skeena is great, especially with the tail end Park car.
It’s 4-days of train riding, but there are plenty of opportunities to step off at various locations along the way to stretch out a bit, and, it’s also a nice relaxing ride when on board.
The scenery is spectacular, with the mountains, rivers, lakes, and wildlife, and, there is also lots of railroad action along the entire route.
I will definitely take the trip again in the summer months when the daylight hours are much longer.
