Similar but different. CN 309 crosses De Courcelle street in the St-Henri neighbourhood of Montreal at 6:25 PM with two outwardly identical locomotives (CN 5743 & BNSF 9618) leading and no DPU. CN 5743 is an SD75I built in 1997 and BNSF 9618 is an SD70MAC built for Burlington Northern in 1995. The big internal difference between the two is that the CN unit is DC traction whereas the BNSF unit is AC traction. They make an attractive pair when lashed up together elephant style as they are here.

  1. Man this shot cries out one word to me: summer! Nice shot. Evening railfanning in the summer sun is always nice.

  2. Thanks, agreed.
