The red rust on the ROW is from ore or acid?
I remember being in Whitefish Falls, on a branchline that was used to convey taconite pellets. The little metallic balls were a bear to walk on, but I do not remember them rusting and staining the ties and ballast.
Lots of boxes from Vancouver on that train.
Well, Steve………after some discussion I have to admit we are stumped as to what that reddish colour is the result of. Hopefully someone will give us a logical explanation.
