My thanks to Mr. Host for taking the time to do colour corrections, dust removal, cropping, straightening, and who knows what else, to make this photo acceptable for others to view on RP.
You must have missed the memo. My two year tour of duty in Westree came to an end in March 1977. I on the Signal Gang by that time. The new tenant in the Helpers house probably enjoyed seeing someone waving frantically and photographing them though.
DOH! I’m missing more than the memo these days! Glad I have all these photos to remind me of where I was 30, 40, 50 years ago because my recall of events isn’t what it once was! ????
Every time I see anything to do with Westree it brings a smile to my clock. Quel dive!!! )
If the train didn’t stop at Westree that day, then in about a quarter mile from this spot the hogger would have the throttle back in the corner for the 22 mile (18 minute) ride over to Gogama showing you just how fast those 4500s could go.
This photo brings back so many memories for me!! Thanks for sharing.
