Caption: Rosberg's Department Store is long gone and the rest of Queen Street is in the midst of hitting the skids back when this photo was taken. It has since recovered for the most part, but Rosbergs never did get rented out and eventually it was demolished. There is now a park-like setting at the corner of Queen St and Zimmerman Av. The CP 8240 and 8247 are rolling up to Queen and watching for vehicular traffic before they cross. The power is returning from a transfer from CP Montrose Yard over to the sprawling CN Niagara Yard. To give you a perspective in how railroading has changed in Niagara Falls in the past 20 years, well there is no more Montrose Yard, no more transfer trackage OR CP link to the USA, and even the NF CN yard is history.

It is a very sad scene today in the Falls and surrounding area. Great historic photo Arnold.
“The power is returning FROM a transfer from CP Montrose Yard over TO the sprawling CN Niagara Yard”…
Isn’t this coming from CN yard to the CP?
