I’ve been noticing a few photos of CN/CP lashups. Barring the removal of the CASO sub, is CN leasing CP units or a powershare…?
BNSF had over 100 CP locomotives on lease this past winter, not sure if that is the case with this one or not though.
The CP unit could be HPH hours to just about any railroad (CSX, BNSF, etc)
This is much more common than you think… especially outside of Canada. Think about it this way – all those foreign units that go into Canada, an equal number of CN units (etc) are repaid to those railroads, or in kind (leasers) or in cash. Anything is possible…
Or, how about this: That could be a CP unit on HPH to CSX – so to CN, that’s a CSX unit loaned to CN for Horsepower Hours (HPH).
