Reading back through my notes for May/85, there had been almost every combination possible of F7's with themselves or GP'9s, also, GP38's, or, the 2 types of B units. Except an ABA consist, finally on the 29th, someone at the diesel shops put one together. Here it is, entering the south end of the connecting track at Kerensky with 35 empties, the time is 11:30. Busy lunch at Redwater, this ABA at 11:30, when returning to Redwater from Kerensky, the 1082, 1075 and 1081 (units for 584) are switching the elevators. Also, the units for 836 - 4294 & 4606, the jet fuel train, are parked in the siding with one one engine out of diesel fuel. They are trying to re-fuel it, but, could never get it restarted. Had to call out a new units. Loved days like this. :^)

  1. Fantastic!

  2. Great shot! What a well maintained right-of-way. I like the phone box and flanger/plow signs at the left.

  3. Thanks for the fantastic Rob. :-)
I should add, that was the normal side of the 9194. The other side had the black 9194 numerals on a white zebra stripe.
Great shot for sure Paul. This was my first time photo’ing an ABA set on the Coronado. I was a little excited, standing and waiting for this to arrive at Kerensky. The R/W will look pretty fresh on the connecting track (a small piece of the Coronado got fluffed too). I never made a note of the date, the connector had only just been installed, guessing here, 2 or 3 years previous to 85. The Lac La Biche sub. used to parallel the Hwy in a couple of spots just west of Redwater. We were still watching the Muskeg mixed on that track in 81/82 (81 for sure). Pictures of that??? The notion of having a camera and doing just that did not dawn on me until 84. To late. Ooops.

  4. It is really great, A-B-A as if it is just a blah-blah ‘nother day of routine freight service, thanks for capturing this, and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

  5. Thanks Mr. Klauker. :-) (instead of happy faces we need turkey emoji’s this weekend).
Another point of small interest is all ends facing us are black. The 9159 had a red backend, which I believe was the more common colour.

  6. ????

  7. That was supposed to be a turkey emoji.

  8. I’ve had the same happen when trying something other than the happy face and these 2 other’s :-D and :-O. Have a good Thanksgiving Paul.

  9. Thanks. And a Happy Thanksgiving to you as well Done Like Dinner. :-)

  10. H’mmm. Thought I knew how to make the one Mr. Mooney does on occasion with his comments. Not a capital O obviously.

  11. Beautiful!!!! Im always interested in seeing photos of the old Lac La Biche sub if there are any!!!!!!!!!!!
