Super Newf image. I’m surprised you didn’t post this one a long time ago for us fans !!
This is gorgeous!!! It’s amazing they got rid of the “Newfie Bullet” in 1967 and yet passenger trains actually lingered on for 20 more years.
Absolutely beautiful!
Weird and Wonderful at the same time…Vive Le Rock
Steve, you have truly captured the essence of railroading on the Rock! Not only that this ‘Only on Wednesday’ train ran once a week but that it warranted a coach regardless of any revenue freight. What a great capture! Thank you for not only coming here to shoot our beloved Newfoundland Railway but also for sharing it with everyone. – Ken
Did it run both ways on Wednesday? How many people would ride it? Why only wednesday..???
Yes, it made a return trip from Clarenville to Bonavista as Nos. 205/206. It was a trice weekly (Mon-Wed-Fri) run up until the late 1970′s and from 1979 onward it operated only on Wednesday. In the latter years, due to lack of freight, Terra Transport often annulled it and provided a taxi for passengers. The last run was on November 23, 1983 due to unsafe track conditions and the line permanently closed the next year.
