Caption: Prior to the arrival of second generation power from the mid-1960s to mid-1970s, CN main line freights in Central and Western Canada were dominated by GP9s and RS18s, supplemented by Edmonton-based F7s and FA/FB units maintained in Quebec and the Maritimes. So, it wasn't that unusual to find a couple of "light weight" GP9s based in Winnipeg at Toronto Yard having arrived on a transcontinental freight. 19 similar units were based in Senneterre, Quebec in 1967 and they would also sometimes show up in the Golden Horseshoe.

The 4295 was still in green in 1975 when I saw her in Winnipeg.
