Caption: Peekaboo: OSR's only active RS18 (at present) 181 with 505 (MLW RS23) is passing by the Guelph Youth Music Centre, and the Stewart Lofts and Condos in Guelph, both which straddle Cardigan St along with the Railway. Would you live here? Lots of condos currently for sale :)
40 years ago, both CN and CP had tracks here, CP had a piggyback ramp, an interchange, and a CP station was just at the end of the street - along with the usual assortment of switcher engines for local assignments.
And where I'm standing? It was a factory, the former Stewart Planing Mills (Lumber processing).
Photo notes: used a polarizer filter at full blast, shot at 70mm, and higher than usual ISO to account for the reduction in light caused by filter, to achieve a shutter speed of 1/800.

Nice photo and thanks for sharing the photo notes. I learned something there. And yes, I need a polarizer. The colours are so rich.
I could certainly use a polarizer on many occasions but I junked mine on account too many photos I took resulted in me oversaturating the image, making it slightly unrealistic. I like “What I see is what I get” but some cruddy days that line of thinking isn’t worth a hoot. Neat shot, Young Mr. Host. I visualize, for some odd reason, the local constabulary keeping a close eye on some wayward kook with a fancy camera slipping deftly in and out of the downtown shadows.:o)
Very true – I’ve had this polarizer the longest of all my gear – in the film days it turned the skys on Fuji Velvia film nearly purple – but at least on digital I can test it and adjust right away.The most striking change is in the sky on a polarizer, but it does improve saturation of everything else ever so slightly, especially foliage.
