Great stuff, thanks for sharing. Ever shoot at the semaphores/diamond?
I have one shot there but no Trains at the time unfortunately
Star Track: To boldly go where no train has gone before.
The best pun of the year
What is the track in the foreground?
I believe the track in front is what remained of the ex Main Line that went to the waterfront before the Tunnel was built.
Yes, the track in the foreground was the track that went to the river for the original NYC boatyard/dock. By this time it was simple a short siding that they would used to help switch the Star Track. They would pull the cars down to the switch, cut off the power and go up the track toward the warehouse. Once clear of the switch they’d release the handbrake and roll the cars into the stub. The engine would back down past the switch, grab the cars off the stub, and then proceed to pull the empties and spot the loaded paper cars at the warehouse. By doing this they’d have the cars in position to pull back to the yard. Was cool to watch….
Thank you all. Wonderful.
