Caption: Our Latest VIA Trip! One. Long. Train. The Canadian rolls along the CP mainline west of Parry Sound near Pickerel, ON. The train consist, swollen by the "Canada 150" traffic, was 25 cars including 1 Park dome-lounge-sleeper-observation, 2 Prestige sleepers, 4 Skyline dome cars, 2 diners, 9 sleepers, 5 coaches and 2 baggage cars, plus 3 units. Another 4 sleepers plus Panorama car were added to the train at Edmonton for a total of 30 cars, making the train a half-mile long! This photo is from the latest trip my wife & I took in Prestige Class on the 'Canadian' from Toronto to Jasper, AB to visit Jasper & Banff National Parks, the Banff Springs Hotel and various preserved railway equipment in Alberta & British Columbia before continuing on the train in Sleeper Plus Class to Vancouver.
