  1. Layin’ in the gravel and getting yer shirt all dirty…….

  2. A curious question about the 1400. I’ve noticed that these F-units don’t have Ontario Southland displayed on the sides or nose. Is the yellow parallelogram on the nose from a previous owner? It appears to be saying RA and underneath Rail and I cannot make out the rest. Nice picture Joseph.

  3. Extra 1014, OSR 1400 started its life as CN 6539, it would later be put up for sale and painted for the RaiLink where it spent time out West as RLK 1400.

It made its way back to Ontario when Rail America bought RaiLink. 1400 and 1401 were reassigned to the GEXR where they stayed until being put up for sale again and the OSR bought them.

The yellow on the nose is where the RaiLink Logo used to be and just visible now is the Rail America logo which was painted out.

Take a peak here for what you are seeing: http://www.railpictures.ca/main-page/strong-snow-squalls-pound-the-kitchener-waterloo-area-as-light-power-fp9-rlk-1400-with-gexr-3821-out-of-frame-framed-by-the-via-station-arches-head-west-after-rescuing-584s-train-up-in-elmira-o

I am sure others have shots too which can be added in the comments below!

  4. Thanks Joseph. Your link explains/shows it very well. After rolling up how many miles on CN as a passenger unit, it is good to hear/see that the 6539 is enjoying a functional second life. :-)
