ONR 1733 and 1734 head southward on a beautiful June afternoon. That old shack in the field probably is all there is left of South Mindoka. The sawmill town died in the 1940s and was abandoned by 1960. Another ghost town of the North.  Only a mile up the line from here was the community of Mindoka itself, still a namesign on the ONR. It once had bunks for the T&NO employees as well as the Temiskaming & North Ontario railroad station. It too, vanished.

  1. What a great photo! I love number combinations on the units and these are doubleplusgood as they are in the right order. Nice catch Arnold.
    Looks like someone is enjoying a rest in the trailing unit with the foot or arm out the window. :-)
