One of numerous potash mines in the area, International Minerals and Chemicals had their K-1 mine conveniently between CP’s Bredenbury sub. fourteen miles to the north at Bredenbury and CN’s Rivers sub. two miles to the south at Yarbo.  On Tuesday 1976-10-05, thirty-five year old GE 13095 44-tonner IMC 1243 was spotting hoppers through the K-1 potash loadout.
