Caption: Once upon a time this was one busy railroad, with long grain trains passing thru town regularly. This glimpse of 40 years back shows the former "industrial" area in its' last years. Note the old steam era watertower.I believe it is still there, but nothing else is. The station was saved by a 'Snell' family which purchased the structure and had it moved in 1980 to the Old Mill Complex down on Huron County road 4 where it was to be a commercial establishment. The station had been built around 1907 when the original line, the Guelph & Goderich, pushed thru to Lake Huron. Track in it's last years was part of the CPR, and it was silenced and taken up in the 1990s. I tried to duplicate this image around 2005 but the change is so much that it is another Time Machine opportunity that has been lost to the passage of the years. Yes, thats my car back there. I should have moved it.

Another great country station scene captured. Well done sir! Was in Blyth many years ago and this station was still in great shape. Also went to see the former CNR station too, although I never took photos of it as I found it to be ‘disinteresting’.
Another great catch of a place before it was torn up and disposed of. No the car sets the photo off. Was this s Sunday or was it always that quiet?
Todd: That Blyth CPR was the ‘ultimate’ place I would have liked to have as a home. It is certainly big enough…but I would probably go broke keeping it warm thru the winters.
All through my teen years…that BLUE car would haunt me ….show up in the most remote locations I was at….Now…many years later..I open my computer..there it is….hiding in grass…ahhhhhhh !

Brad: The station was moved, probably around 1981 or so. A KM or so SW of where it is in this photo. But it still looked great when I saw it last a couple of years back.
Arnold: that car helps date the photo. Mind in the heydays of long ago, each model year was distinctive from the previous model year so it was easy to figure out more or less “when.”
Not so these days, sadly. Vehicles all look similar.
And that which we relished for photographs are now gone, as well.
Very nice like Paul O’Shell’s photo today of Jarvis that the station was moved and preserved, not burned down by vandals or demolished! Thanks for the info Arnold.
