Once upon a Time............is how I look at this. Once upon a time in Niagara Falls south end and east of the QEW was the lengthy Montrose Yard. Today it is mostly forgotten as emphasis on the lack of facilities down in Niagara is usually talk of the demise of CN's Niagara Falls yard, as well as the one in Fort Erie. But CP made its' presence felt here too; inherited from the old Conrail days.
Here is a typical view. Coming east is CP 5838, SOO 6401 and 770; alongside the local transfer consisting of CP 3048 and 3079. The office building, very similar to the one in Welland, IF it is still standing, would be now the only thing left as a reminder of what once was. It was well to the left of this scene.
In the distant background, one can barely make out the QEW overpass, and behind me, off to the right about a quarter mile is the bridge over McLeod Rd.

  1. amazing what was once here…. how much traffic there was even then.

  2. And now; one would never even think of this being in Niagara Falls.
A few years ago I noticed the Office structure was still there. In the brush. It looked identical to the one at Welland Yard.
