Caption: Once the railroad capital of Canada, St. Thomas is certainly not the city it once was. Even for me, who missed out on the Canada Southern days it is sad visiting considering what I even witnessed since the 1990's. Fond memories of NS trains, CN locals, CP frame trains and Trillium. Today just about everything is gone. The large Ford plant in Talbotville has been disabled and most rails in the are have either been removed or sit rarely seeing a train. This past Thursday another loss came to the city when the OSR gave up operations over the Cayuga Subdivision. All that is left today is the once a day CN train out of London and OSR's train out of Ingersoll a couple times a week. All through trains are now distant history. The Cayuga Subdivision through town was once three tracks but today only one remains with the rest removed or disconnected after the loss of the locals. Here we see the last "Cayuga Clipper" heading back to the St. Thomas subdivision after the final run and lifting card a CN' s quiet yard in town. A matching set of F units certainly improves the mood of the day.
