Caption: Once a common sight, a wave from a caboose is not something you'll see often these days. With the Pointe St-Charles switcher in Montreal now assigned a caboose for long backup moves, it can happen again when you get lucky. Here a crewmember waves as the train heads towards the Port of Montreal after shoving out of the yard as they pass MP 1.76 of the Montreal SUb. This van is not in great shape, but it is back home, as it was built by CN in their Pointe St-Charles shop in Montreal (now demolished).

Despite the abuse it has seen over the years, it still has an ACI tag.
That’s because it has been read so many times in the last 25 years. LOL.
Which is in such contrast to the photo I just posted lately,
http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=43951
where the yellow hopper on the right has its tag so cleanly shaved off.
Yellow hopper on the left, oops.
That ex OLOR van sure gets around….last I’d heard it was out in Halifax!
Great catch
Yes it was in Halifax till being moved to Montreal a couple of months ago.
That’s great it’s still seeing use. Nice photo Michael.
