On the way to bring sulphur buggies home. Cab 79497 at the rear. Shot first thing in the morning, just a short ways north of Egremont. Black trucks just don't work, way better when they get some sanding dust on them. :-)

  1. Yet another great picture! Being that it was 1987 , I did not realize that the NAR colours lasted so long.

  2. Thank you Kevin. I do believe, all but the 4602 and 4604 (both in zebra), kept their NAR colours till the end. Not so for the GMD-1′s, the Bishop Grouard (1080) was the last I saw in NAR paint, final photo and sighting, April/85/Calder DS.

  3. 1080 in June 1982: http://www.railpictures.ca/?attachment_id=46756

  4. Good link Jacob, even if blacked out, they still look NAR. Happily, they did not blackout the names. :-)

  5. Im surprised the builder plate on 4603 lasted that long too!

  6. It’s just a rust mark, no plate evident in other photos.

  7. The builder plate is stainless so there would only be a small rust spot and an outline. I’m 99% sure it made it till 1988 (as seen in another photo of yours) with the plate affixed to the right side.
