On the day of the official first VIA transcontinental "Super Continental" passenger train out of Montreal bound for Vancouver, similarly the first VIA "Canadian" left Toronto for Sudbury behind CP 4066 and 4067. It was projected to be an overcast day, resulting in my going with sub-par (at the time) 400 ASA film for the occasion. I am standing just west of Union Station catching the train beginning it's journey. The CFTO-TV sign is backwards because it is facing the other side of the station, situated to catch the attention of travelers coming into Toronto from the East. Forty years of VIA!!!
