Caption: On Friday morning I awoke to the news that CN 533 had died the previous night in Kitchener and the trailing unit was CP 8616. While that was pretty historic in itself, I had to head to work in Baden, which is situated just west of Kitchener, with thoughts of taking a bit of an extended lunch and hopefully maybe catching the power laying over if it was still there. That plan went out the window rather quickly as it was determined that CN L540 would take the two GE's and a block of cars west to Stratford to lessen the congestion in a full yard at Kitchener. While it was rare enough for CN L540 to venture west of Kitchener,
it was even more layered as it would take 533's power, with one unit being CP 8616. Luckily I'm fortunate as my boss understood that I needed to take an extended break to witness a bit of history on the Guelph Subdivision. So during a brief lull between snow squalls, CN L540 is seen crossing Mill Street in Baden as it heads west to Stratford powered by CN 3143 and CP 8616.
