On a gloomy February day, TTC PCC 4324 operates on an eastbound Harbord car (detouring via Bloor instead of the normal Harbord routing) heading southbound on Spadina Avenue approaching Harbord Street, passing Glen Norris. The Harbord streetcar was a zig-zagging route across the city from St. Clarens loop (Davenport & Lansdowne area) to Lipton Loop (Danforth and Pape) traversing various streets including a stretch of Harbord between Spadina and Ossington. It was another one of the many streetcar route casualties when the Bloor-Danforth subway opened a year later.Despite the changes to Spadina over the years like the dedicated streetcar right-of-way and underground Spadina streetcar station, most if not all of those old houses on the east side remain to this day, not (at least yet) swallowed up by the neighbouring University of Toronto St. George campus (the UofT's large Graduate House building now occupies the space at the north-east corner of Spadina and Harbord however, just out of frame to the right).John F. Bromley photo, Kodachrome from the Dan Dell'Unto collection (with some colour correction/touch-ups).
