On 5 June 1960, the Upper Canada Railway Society (UCRS) sponsored an excursion from Toronto to Port McNicoll, Ontario (return) behind 4-6-4 2857. This memorable day turned out to be the last assignment for a Royal Hudson in CPR service. This shot was taken during the run-past at Eaton Mills.

  1. Was she preserved?

  2. Beautiful!

  3. Stunning. You see shots like this; history that could, but likely won’t be repeated; cost and liability being the chief challenges. I’d throw money out to watch it go by pulling 20 empty box cars……

  4. Fantastic!

  5. When I posted the photo, I forgot to thank Dan Dell’Unto for his assistance in editing! (And thanks for the compliments, everyone.)

  6. Great Photo. Does anyone know if any sound recordings still exist from this trip?

  7. Superb. And while the last Royal Hudson in CP service, fortunately not the last Hudson!

  8. Great picture Doug, even got 2857 with her rods down. Well done, and brings back many great memories, And thank you Dan for your editing and colour work, John
