After the elevators were knocked down in Redwater, this type of operation would take place on the elevator track. A few hoppers would be spotted and then filled over a few days. CN would pick them up when ready. If memory serves me right, this did not last long and fizzled out after a short time. In this photo, it appears the hoppers are being emptied, rather than filled. This is one of my all time fav Gov’t hopper with the white Canada letters and red background. Giant grain heads.

Yes, these cars were being unloaded in The Pas, destination of the loaded grain trucks unknown.
I’ll be passing through The Pas again this coming Wednesday and will look to see if there are more classic grain cars spotted on this stub track just south of the station building, and a stones throw from where the KRC’s Putatawagan Mixed passenger equipment is stored.
