Normally three of NAR’s four SD38-2 units were utilized between McLennan and Roma Jct. on the Peace River grades for which they were ideal, and the fourth cycled between McLennan and Dunvegan Yards in Edmonton. That is what 401 is doing here, leading GP9 201 westward on the French Creek bridge at mile 81.8 just south of Fawcett at 1243 MDT, with 49 miles to go to a crew change at Smith, then another 131 to reach McLennan.
