Norfolk Southern (along with CN) was a late convert to AC power. Whereas most Class I's were buying AC power starting during the mid-1990's, NS only bought their first AC units in 2011 with ES44AC and SD70ACe purchases. One of each is represented on CN 528 here, with ES44AC NS 8069 & SD70ACe NS 1131 powering the 55-car train eastbound on CN's Montreal Sub.
