Making my usual Sunday morning rounds, (Bayview/Burlington then Guelph Jct), I stopped by Burlington station where I was informed by CN operator Bruce Mercer of a C&O detour train operating over CN's Dunnville sub from Fort Erie to Canfield! The reroute was necessitated by a "laker" hitting pilings (caissons) at the Welland drawbridge and the bridge was awaiting inspection by structural personnel. The train is seen crossing the Canada Southern mainline and will enter CN's siding before backing onto the NYC to continue westward. Likely combined trains SC-5 and BDC-3 with 77 cars and 5 units, U25Bs 2521, 2506, 2523, and 2536 with GP30 3023 in fourth position. (With supplementary information from Bruce Mercer.)

  1. Very cool. I read about this some time ago, a very rare move this must have been!

  2. I saw this image for sale on eBay about 18-20 months ago, by a seller from Kitchener. Of course ” he ” did not have the details of what the image was showing us.
