Caption: Maintenance is a part of the railway that many don't see, yet it serves a very important purpose: to keep the system in top-shape and in working order for safe passage of passengers and freight. During the afternoon lull in train traffic, a group of maintenance workers tend to one of the many switches at the east side of Bathurst Street. Four workers divert their attention to the area around the switch's points and heaters, while one is ahead at the "frog" where the diverging rail crosses. Their hi-rail truck sits nearby; well-stocked with tools, welding equipment and other items needed to make a quick spot repair or do one of the many regular maintenance tasks in the corridor.
Also of interest, note the VIA stepbox on the ground by the side of the truck, probably a spare "borrowed" from somewhere around Union Station.
