LTEX 3828 is seen taking two tank cars north to the CN interchange from Petro Canada's Mississauga Lubricants Centre. This small industrial operation is operated by Railserve, and presently uses fleet of leased LTEX locomotives to switch cars within the refinery, as well as transport cars to and from their interchange with CN at the Clarkson GO station via the plant's approximately one mile long connecting spur. GP38-3 3828 is the newest addition to the fleet in Clarkson, having arrived on the property in early December 2022. It is the sixth unit to be assigned to the plant since Railserve took over operations from Ontario Southland in 2007.

The operation currently has a total of four locomotives (all GP38s) on site. LTEX 3828 and 3829 (GP38-3s, rebuilt in 2022 and 2021 respectively) are presently the regular units used for the operation and were leased as the company looked to newer locomotives to have alongside their two "older" units - LTEX 2077 and 3803 (unrebuilt GP38s, both of Aberdeen, Carolina & Western heritage), which are now only used as backup locomotives if needed. The company has also used a red and grey GP38-3, LTEX 3830, on the operation from October 2020 to November 2022, as well as a Railserve-lettered GP10, numbered RSSX 1078, for a short time around 2013.

  1. Neat to see Matthew

  2. Hi Matthew, this is Seth B. writing a note of apology for the statement that I left on this photo previously. I am sorry for the comment, my assumption lead to a hurtful conclusion. Please accept my sincere apologies.

  3. Hi Seth. Thank you for your message. No worries! There was a tech issue on my end causing stars to be removed amongst other things and I hope things have been resolved. I went through earlier tonight to restore what I noticed had been removed, but if you notice anything else is missing or isn’t right, please do not hesitate to reach out! -Matthew

  4. It is so much better when situations end on an upswing rather than down. Thanks for your kind reply. :-)

  5. The two tank cars are GATX 31824 and CGTX 23604 if anyone is interested in that sort of info

  6. Caption Typo: Railserve took over operations at the plant from OSR in 2008 (caption has 2007)
