LABRADOR LINE. Engineer Joseph Hynes approaches the photographer to invite him into the warmth of the cab of AC4400CW #420 during the first major snow storm of the season. Joseph, a long time engineer with the QNS&L, was waiting on the mainline just outside Labrador City for clearance to bring the 420 and sister General Electric engine 422 back into the yard of the Iron Ore Company of Canada for a later run of ore to Sept-Iles.
It was the beginning of a wonderful friendship of two men, one a railroader and the other a railfan, who shared a passion for trains.
