Just driving by Railview Transload Elevators, this March evening on the way home, and to my surprise an extremely late CN 502 was clearly visible idling on the main. The crew had obviously run out of hours and conveniently parked their train under the bright lights of the new, Mustard Silos. A rare photo opportunity indeed and one not to be missed. I had sufficient time to capture this setting from both sides of the power CN 2295 and CN 2560 before the new crew arrived to continue south to Garnet Yard.
I believe this capture qualifies for the Time Machine in conjunction with John Eull’s 1986 photo (Photo ID: 4356) and my existing companion photo of 2011 (Photo Id: 24926). These three photos present CP, SOR and CN powered trains at the same location albeit hauling different freight and depicting expanded facilities/service, etc.

  1. Beautiful exposure. you can also identify the MOW equipment and CNs communications tower to the left. This new facility shows what forward thinking can do for the rail industry.
