Caption: Just Another Day.
It's 6:55am, and all over downtown Toronto, people are getting up, having breakfast, and leaving their condos for another workday in the big city. For some it's just a 5-minute walk to the office, others a 15 minute subway or streetcar ride, and still others a drive up the Don Valley Parkway or Gardiner Expressway out of the downtown core to Etobicoke, Scarborough or North York.
The people on this train however, have risen hours before to do their morning rituals, and upon completion headed downtown to board their train at Union Station. Destined for business or pleasure outside the city, they're settled down in the plush LRC seating as their train makes its usual morning departure, on time, from the big city. It's actually two trains: the lead P42 locomotive is hauling train #40 destined for Ottawa, while coupled behind in a "J-train" consist is #52 for Montreal. While an odd practice, this is completely normal for the two trains scheduled to depart at the same time. At Brockville the train will be split, with one half bound for Canada's capital, and the other for Canada's second-largest city.

I enjoyed the caption to this photo; first, how it was written, and second…. it reminds me once again how lucky I am not to be one of those lemmings that scurries in and out of the ‘hole’ each day trying to eke out a meager existence in the face of thousands of others.
Thanks Arnold. It’s an (urban) jungle out there.
