Caption: Just another Canadian.
Or is it?
Please do consider how exceptional this Train is.
And the fact this Train exists at all.
[especially given the anti passenger rail attitude(s) of many present and past government(s) and possibly future government(s)].
Via's Flagship train #2 at 12:43 on southbound approach to CN Zephyr, Bala Sub mile 47.0 (mile 46.9 northbound).
Via's arrival hotline reported #2 expected at 12:55 and with another 47 miles to go, make that a likely 13:55 Union arrival, possibly four hours twenty five minutes off the advertised.
And today the time is exceptional (hopefully not regular) – and the noon hour light is a challenge.
Re-built F40PH-2, class GPA30H #6439 - #6401 on the head end (hence the tail end shot – fewer Park's around than F40PH-2's)

What's interesting:
Sixty years after: Budd built Yoho Park continues daily duty - today on the tail end along with other venerable Budd built equipment on #2 including: sixty six year old Coach 8144 (ex CR (NS) 5678; ex Amtk 5678; ex PC 4053; ex PRR 4053, ex NYC2925 (built 1948)), along with sixty year old Budd built for CPR: Fraser Manor and Dining Room Empress.
The box below the CN signal 470 is an arrow lamp pointing left – that will light when necessary - to alert a crew that their southbound is required to take the siding – on the east side of the main - at Zephyr.

And do make the effort to photograph and ride this train, 'cause who knows how much longer the Via Canadian will be...
