Caption: JLCX 2886 has been a long term resident on the Long Creek Railroad and in this photo, is spotted nicely outside the shop building. This unit has a VERY interesting history. It was built for the original Norfolk Southern (NSRR) in 7/67 with a low short hood, no DB, was short hood forward, and had a much smaller fuel tank. It went on to be acquired by the SOU and was rebuilt with a high short hood, was set up long hood forward, and was given an extended fuel tank. It went on to wear NS paint and was eventually sold to the Chattahoochee & Gulf RR where it received a low short hood (again). It seemingly wasn't till the unit was acquired by JLCX that it received dynamic brakes! At 56+ years old, 2886 is still toughing out winters in southern Saskatchewan.

Interesting indeed. Haven’t heard of this operation before.
This is great – nice to see more JLCX locos out in the wild.
I Just added the Long Creek Railroad – let me know if any need to be added folks.
